I'm enjoying my night, watching Scrubs reruns on WGN..Thrilling life right? Hmm new wines..well I had the Howell Mountain Zin earlier in the week. I had a Lorca Pinot Noir the other day that was amazing too, very Californian but still delicious. Those two are the first I thought of, been staying away from Cab and Syrah for a little bit, but that'll be this weekend's libations, especially with BBQ and steak on the menu :-)

To answer your question, I do get two days off, it's every Thursday/Friday. Other than that, I'm usually at work, or asleep. It's not all gloom and doom though, my job is pretty fun. I work for Trader Joe's, out here in San Diego. If you've ever shopped at one of our stores, and you see someone in a Hawaiian shirt running around, that's what I do too. I supervise stuff. One of my responsibilities is the wine ordering for the store I work at, in addition to the merchandising, customer/crewmember education, stuff like that.

I too am working on the 4th but will make it out in time for fireworks.

The most noteable, yummy wine I've had lately is the 06 Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir. Wow, is all I can say to that wine. It was a gift and I can only hope I get another bottle. It was delicious!

You said it perfect! Life is all about following your passion! I'd love to wite about wine and plan to start blogging. PR is always an option as well. I have a PR agency in San Fran. following me on Twitter. Not something that ever really occurred to me and I'm just ready to see where this road takes me. :)

How's the Rose? I can't get into those. Would you recommend the one you are drinking? How'd the flatbread turn out? I am so impressed with how much you cook! I am sure you hear that alot.

    Hey Suzi what's up?
Long weekend? I wish! I only get two days off a week, Thursday/Friday. On those days I just caught up on errands and did some wine tasting. Nothing of great note, just some random stuff that needed to be tasted. A few French, Spanish, and California wines.
I tried cooking up a few new dishes, a pesto encrusted/reggiano stuffed burger, and a spicy couscous stuffed tilapia. They turned out pretty well, a few tweaks are needed but I suspect they'll be good summer type dishes to make for my friends.
Another phase for the pup huh? I remember those days fondly, definitely need to get another dog soon :)

So what would you like to know? Through the family biz I caught the "bug" for wine and figured I should get a few certifications, which led to the Sommelier classes. They were interesting, I learned a ton about wine, from very specific things to broader concepts about the nature of what we love about wine. I guess in a way it was a fun personal journey..not to get all sappy on you. ...    less

Yes, I was having a great time this afternoon not only meeting Jeff Gordon, from the Gordon Brother's Winey but also the winemaker for Red Knot and Shingleback from Australia. I tasted some truly delicious wines and made some new friends. I need to go to Australia. Brought home a signed bottle of the Shingleback Cab and might have to go back and get the shiraz tomorrow. I love learning from the winemakers and hearing about the different growing seasons. And yes I'm a dork when it comes to wine. I just love to learn.

Sonoma sounds great and I totally agree with you abotu Paso Robles. There are so many hidden gems out there and I'm jealous you are close to them!

How awesome that your dad is in the business and I take it that's where you learned about wine? I've heard the Santa Rita reserve is good and will have to try that myself. I was enjoying the Tilia malbec. Cook anything fun tonight?

I bet you have great wine bars out there and I loved going to those...    less

Buddy's Red is a great one to try. As soon as the 06 Tannat comes out I'll let you know how it is and I can always send the wine to you too. I hear you on old world style although I love California Cabs. Fife is delicious! You have so many you can enjoy out there that don't ship this far unless I'm in a wine club. Tannat! Wow, haven't had that in ages..Doesn't it also grow well in South America? Paraguay/Uruguay if I recall correctly. Out here I don't know if I have a favorite, I'm fortunate to have some family friends who own vineyards/wineries so they probably get my picks as faves. I've found lately that I really want to do a Paso Robles trip and see what's cooking in the central part of the state. Do you ever get out here to the West?

When I get another pup, I want a Weimeramer (sp) really badly..I don't think I could get another Dalmation, the one I had was so amazing and fun that nothing could replace her..The other breed I'd thought about would be something fun like a Beagle. I think I could put up with the barking from them.
The vineyards out here in Cali? I go as often as I can! Part of the fun of living out here is finding those new wineries/vineyards that aren't on the map yet, and meeting the people behind the concept. Granted, there are some stunning established places too, so I really can't complain..Do you get to the VA vineyards often?
