So here goes my list of the following producers not too be missed. Bergstrom, Carlton Winemakers Studio, Patricia Green Cellars (appt. is needed), Rex Hill, Archery Summit, WillaKenzie, Chehalem (make an appt, ask for Harry), Argyle Winery, Beaux Frères, The Eyrie Vineyards, Ponzi Vineyards, www.owenroe.com (make an appt.) Domaine Serene's (check website for appt. schedule), www.witnesstreevineyard.com. and www.andrewrichwines.com all these place I've mentioned either I've been there or tasted their wines and they are first class. If you can get an appt. with Ken Wright, I would definitely do that! The places with appt. needed are among some of the best. Here is another helpful link: www.willamettewines.com Not sure if you checked my wine blog www.cuveecorner.blogspot.com about the area but it would also be helpful. Have a great time! Purpleteeth2 → Hoover: That's a great pix, did you consider shooting one with a glass of wine next to the models leg? Just an idea?? Keep up the great photograpy!
December 12, 2008
Purpleteeth2 → ChefDave: Dave, thanks so much for the advice. Did you bring some wine home? I was thinking maybe a few bottles top, because the new rules for flying make it difficult. Did you hire anyone for wine tours or is the tasting room scene similar to that of the US?

If you like big reds, you are headed the right place. Hot, hot Paso turns out some great big boys. If you get a chance (and need to dry out a bit), head over the coast. There is Hearst Castle, and just north of there a beach completely overrun with sea lions. You can pull off, walk around and listen to them bark at each other. :)
Presently living here in San Diego, born here went to school here and married a great lady here. Settled down, but having fallen in love with wine after my first trip to Napa, I desire a change in my career path.
Most recently I have successfully completed my Wine Fundamentals Certification in levels One and Two, through the International Sommelier Guild
In the mean time I am currently looking to make a change of careers. If you are in Wine n Spirits distribution or know someone who is and are looking for a Wine Sales Service Rep. or even a Wine Shop here in San Diego which needs (even if it is partime) someone who has sales experience, a good demeanor, and a passion for wine, I would be very interested in talking to you.
Are there any winemakers here in Temecula looking to take on an apprentice, who will work for knowledge sake in the area of vinification and viticulture?
Please check out the Cuvee Corner Wine Blog @ http://cuveecorner.blogspot.com/ about bringing a fresh perspective on wines, Wine-news and Wine travel! See ya there, Cheers!
In the long term goal category, I have a dream of owning a Wine Store a place to share my love of wine with others in San Diego. I am looking for a team interested in building, running, managing, and owning a wine store. In other words a partner or partners who love and appreciate wine come join me.
Finally everyone can live by these words, live well, love much, and laugh often, Cheers everybody!
In between positions at the moment
Bordeaux (like who doesn't) Rhone varietals and Burgundian's, but I also like Chianti, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Merlot, Petite Sirah,Pinots from Oregon and Sonoma and the Central Coast, Shiraz like the Mollydooker, California Zinfandels from Dry Creek, American Syrahs from Washington (walla walla), SBC and Paso. Tempranillos which from Rioja, Ribera del Duero and parts of Penendes. Garnacha (Grenache) Monastrell, and geez I could on and on... so suffice it to say I love many wine types.
But my heart belongs to Cab (Cabernet Sauvignon)which in my book is King!
Okay, my wine loving community! I am spending a week in the heart of Chianti in September on a vineyard, does anyone have suggestions on places I "must" go. I need the 411, like wineries to visit, places to eat, what not to say, tour companies, should I rent a car or a scooter etc. I will be w...
Many folks who are in the business of writing about wine as a livelihood or a side hobby do accept samples or some seek samples. Still others refuse to accept samples at all and will buy their own for reviewing purposes because they don't want to be accused of being bias. This sim...
Paso Robles, a tale of two cities! Part 4 "Rhone Rangers" As promised here is my fourth blog about my Paso wine experience. Often times you leave many of the best for the last and in my ever not so humble opinion that is what I have done. It is another hot day in Paso, although a hard rain ...

Please post your reviews for red wines here. I encourage everyone to participate in a lively discussion of their favorite red wines. Your review may be as formal or informal as you like. It would be great if you could also rate the wine on a 100 point scale.
Barbera refers to the Italian red wine grape variety that is used to make several Barbera wine appellations. Southern Lombardy and Piedmont are the traditional homes of the Barbera wines. The towns of Alba, Asti, and Pavia, are particularly well-known producers of the best Barbera wines, with Barbera di'Asti being the most noted wines under the Barbera group.
The exquisite Barbera wines were said to have emerged in Italy's central Piemonte, specifically in the Monferrato hills, and were present as early as the thirteenth century. Barbera wines used to be considered as an option if the Barolo wine is still not ready. However, better wine-making techniques used by wine makers today have made it possible for Barbera wines to be one of the best Italian red wines at present.
Barbera wines have gained worldwide distinction and the favor of wine enthusiasts from several countries outside Italy, including Argentina, the United States, Australia, and Brazil.
Quite often a good wine is a great wine when paired with the right food. Some food and wine pairings are quite obvious where as others are often illusive. Are you planning a dinner and want to see what wine would go best with it? Have you had a great meal that was perfectly paired with a wine? Please share it so we can all enjoy the wine pairing.
Welcome to the Virtual Wine Tasting Club. Every month in our online wine tasting series we will taste a different wine and post our tasting notes. In advance, if possible, please post the wine you will be trying that fits the tasting. The tasting will last one month so you can taste and post your notes in that time frame. Please ask questions about the wine we're tasting, post recommendations for future wine tastings and make this online wine tasting group a wonderful, interactive, informative wine discussion.
Hi, My name is Chelsea and I'll be organizing some of the San Diego group events! There are so many great wine bars, wine events and tastings in the area. I have not explored them all, so please feel free to suggest anything you would like! Cheers, Chelsea
