Are you originally from the US or are you French? I am originally from Germany....

By the way I'm 33 years old, married for nearly 3 years with the 1st child to arrive on november 1st : it's a boy :-)))
At the beginning I studied Hotel Management in the Institut Vatel in Paris. I enterred for kitchen and finished 2nd of my promotion : the promotion of GUY SAVOY and got out with service, management, marketing,... and OENOLOGY :o)
After working in the hospitality industry for 12 years I was tired of not being able to see my wife and my friends and not getting any money for this sacrifice. I really enjoyed working for companies such as Hotel Royal Monceau - Four Seasons George V in Paris - Novotel in NYC and in Madrid Spain and living in countries such as Nigeria - Malaysia - Zaïre - Cuba - Spain...
Now my office is at home and my job is mainly to go and visit former employers or former team-mates and sell them wine ;-)
As you understood I love food & beverages but not only... I'm an angler (fly fisher) with some nice catches lately...And I play tennis and love snowboarding in the winter... When the weather is really bad I stay at home call some friends and we play...station with a nice bottle of wine ;-)

If there is one thing that the region of Bordeaux is proud of, it would probably be its line of wines. For the record, Bordeaux is the largest wine-producing region in the whole world, and it would only follow that they produce the best wines available in the market today. Bordeaux is famous for its red wines, though, of course, its white varieties are doing exceptionally good as well.
Every Bordeaux wine possesses distinct quality, flavor, and taste. There are no two wines that are seemingly alike. And to come up with variations, wine makers planted and blended different vines that would collaboratively make up a unique-tasting and fine wine.
Bordeaux wines were said to have existed in the post 48 AD and were originally created for soldiers. As the years advanced, Bordeaux wines found other markets and were thereby exported, though in the earlier years wine exportation was never seen as a grand idea. Bordeaux wine industry witnessed several threats before like infestations and critical economic difficulties, but emerged from them successfully.
Cabernet Franc is one of the leading varietals of red wine produced in Bordeaux, France. Cabernet Franc has a peppery aroma and fruity flavor that is more delicate than its close relative, the Cabernet Sauvignon. Depending on the place of production and the specific wine making process, Cabernet Franc may also exude aromas of tobacco, raspberry, and cassis. It has a lower tannin level and has a distinct blueberry/raspberry flavor. Cabernet Franc is usually mixed with other varietals of wine like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. In recent times, wine producers have increasingly sold Cabernet Franc as a stand alone varietal.
Aside from the Bourdeaux region, Cabernet Franc is also produced in the Loire Valley. Other countries such as Argentina, the Balkan states, Canada, Chile, New Zealand, Romania, and South Africa also produce Cabernet Franc. Of particular interest is the ice wine made from Cabernet Franc in Canada. Ice wine is a type of dessert wine made from grapes that were frozen while still on the vine.
Champagne would probably be one of the most famous wines today. Admit it, you probably have used champagne and wine almost interchangeably at some point in your life. It's fame is quite understandable because champagne, unlike some wines, is always on the table during festivities. Come to think of it. When you celebrate your birthday, what do you usually drink aside of course from colas? On New Year's Eve? On your best friend's wedding? Champagne, right?
A Quick Glance at the History
Champagne, aside from being a "celebration wine" is world-famous for being a sparkling wine. But Champagne, as we know it today, was originally just a "wine" until of course it adapted the name of the region where it originated.
Dom Perignon, a Benedictine monk, was widely regarded as the Champagne inventor, but history would tell that he was only instrumental to the development that occurred in the Champagne-making process. His contributions include cork usage, blending of different grapes from different vineyards, and clarification strategies.
Merlot is perhaps the cause of joy for many red wine lovers like myself. To find out more about this medium-bodied variety, I went to Medoc, a region in France popular for its red wine industry. This region was where Merlot grapes were first regularly planted, making Merlot a local variety by the beginning of the 19th century. I also learned from the same trip that this variety is known for its grapes that are lighter in color compared to Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
A glass of Merlot is definitely one of my favorite things in life. Aside from the fact that I salivate everytime I smell its aroma, this luscious darling is full of fruity flavor that strongly reminds me of my grandma's classic plum pie. It may not be as rich as a glass of Syrah but it can definitely soothe my senses. If a glass of milk can do wonders for a growing kid, then a glass of merlot can do wonders for my tastebuds.
