Since we are holding an event in the Gann Family Vineyard, it is fitting to showcase Gann Family Cellars!

    The Story

Gann Family Cellars is the result of a long-held dream of ours. As a California native, Michael's family has a long history in Northern California that began in 1871 when Isaac W. Gann moved here, from the east, to purchase 154 acres of agricultural property. Six generations later, we have the privilege of continuing this family tradition with our Gann Family Vineyard.

Our story begins in 1984, at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where we met. While we were dating, we were introduced to the emerging wine country of the Central Coast. From there, our wine interest grew significantly, especially when we moved to the Bay Area after graduating in 1986. Here we had the chance to regularly visit the wine country of Napa and Sonoma counties and learn more about wine from Gretchen's brother, who had recently graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Enology. Our entertaining, whether fami...    less

We are very excited and fortunate to have found a small producer that is making some truly incredible wines and nobody knows about them. I will share the story of Krutz Family Cellars!

    The Story

I guess it all started in 1990 when my folks stumbled into The Cheese Shop in Carmel, CA. Had they not step foot in that store they may not had been turned onto wine in the fashion they were and in turn they may not have had the ammunition (wine) to share with their children when it was time to do so. As Fred and Cherry, the folks, knew their offspring quite well they started building a cellar that could withstand the fierce and very frequent barrage of attacks that have been thoroughly and precisely planned out for 21 years. And so it began! The war for knowledge of what it was in the bottle that sparks the senses and imagination in ways that no other beverage can come close to doing so.

After finishing under-grad at The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in 2001 I took some months off to tra...    less

HUGE BREAKING NEWS!! Cellars of Sonoma and Heidi Barrett of LA SIRENA Wines have reached an agreement subject to ABC approval, to showcase her incredible wines at Cellars of Sonoma!

Heidi essentially became a freelance wine consultant, and began hiring out her expertise to a handful of Napa Valley’s smallest, most quality-oriented wineries. Heidi's legend really began to grow in 1988 when Gustav Dalla Valle hired the talented young winemaker to vinify his prized grapes from the eastern hills of the Oakville wine region.

Barrett stayed with Dalla Valle until 1996, and developed the cult wine named Maya. This is a primarily Cabernet Sauvignon blend that was far ahead of its time. Robert Parker gave Maya unheard of back-to-back 100 point scores for the 1992 and 1993 vintages. He also began referring to her as the, “first lady of wine.”

In 1992, Barrett went to work for Screaming Eagle. Screaming Eagle is one of those wines that everyone has heard of, but not many have tasted. It is an emblemati...    less

James Family Cellars is our newest vintner released to sell at Cellars of Sonoma! We wanted to send out some information to everyone about who they are, check it out!

    History of James Family Cellars

We planted our vineyard in 1998 and had our first harvest in 2000. We have long sold our grapes to Schramsburg Winery in Napa County for their premium sparkling wine program. After winning several awards for the amateur wines we produced from our grapes, we decided in 2007 to take the leap and start James Family Cellars.

James Family Cellars is dedicated to reaching the pinnacle of what Pinot Noir can be--a marvelously aromatic and flavorful wine. We are committed to quality and this is reflected in the limited number of cases released.

Our vineyard is located in a particularly cool area in the famed wine growing region of Sonoma County. We are twenty miles from the coast and the climate is affected daily by the ocean. This ...    less

Heidi Barrett tasting room ? in Santa Rosa!

Famed Napa Valley winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett is adding her La Sirena (The Mermaid) wines to the new Cellars of Sonoma collective tasting room in Santa Rosa’s hot Railroad Square area.

Her wines join those of Ty Caton, DuNah Vineyard & Winery, Gann Family Cellars, T.R. Elliot, Krutz Family Cellars, Bonneau Wines, James Family Cellars & Bradford Mountain.

Barrett grew up in a winemaking family in the Napa Valley, and after graduating from UC Davis, she was hired as a winemaker Buehler Vineyards at 25.

Five years later, she began consulting for other wineries and soon created wines of “cult” status. Her powerful yet elegant Cabernets include the famous proprietary blend “Maya,” which received p...    less
