I know for certain the St. Innocent's Anden Vineyard Pinot Noir 2005 can easily stand up to a decent premier cru. Personally, The 2004 Burgundies are silky and wonderful...I'm not even breaking open my 2005 Clos Veougot from Montille, no way...or even his Premier Cru Beaunes. The best Village levels from Montille, Roty and Milllot are incredible. I just tried Millot's Cote du Nuits-Village 2006 29.99. Lovely stuff. As far as Oregon Pinot Noir. Drouhin, Ayres, St. Innocent, Cameron, J. Christopher, Brickhouse, and Beaux Freres. As for New Zealand and Aussie Pinot Noir if I wanted to drink Pinot that tastes like ripe cherry Syrah with too much alcohol i'd buy cheap Aussie Syrah.  less

Fontodi, Felsina, Rampolla(who can afford them anymore) are great chiantis. Look for the 2006 and hold onto your 2004's. Anything...and I mean anything coming from Tuscany and even farther inland is going to be superb for 2006. In vintages like 2006 just basic chianti or chianti colli senesi, rufina, or classico should be stellar. The Riservas are going to be blockbusters and The Brunello's I guarantee...will be completely unaffordable but hopefully not unattainable like some of the classed Bordeaux '05's and Burgundies from '05. I snagged Clos Veogeout from Hubert Montille (6 bottles, only 12 came into Oregon)...and i stayed away from all Bordeaux...well a couple classed growths like Cantermelle and Cru Beorgois. Look into Rosso di Montalcino and Montepulciano, and don't be afraid of Umbria in this vintage. This vintage is like the '97. A little more softer tannins, but pure decadence. One to keep yo...    less

    Posted September 27, 2008

  • Does anyone know why....

    Posted September 25, 2008

The Speculator, Tanzer, and Parker are so reluctant to rate any of the basic bourgognes?  I noticed very little in the way of affordable 2005's Bourgognes being noted unless of course they are from the super squeaky clean and monolithic Jadot, Drouhin...what happened to the vast quanitity ...

Chateau D'Oupia Minervois Tradition 2006: "...smell of ripe black cherries backed by the bitter-sweetness of cherry pits and dark chocolate, and Cornas-like elemtns of raw beef liver.  These flavors come together fro a strikingly rich, mouth-coating black-fruit, and animal impression....

I always Liked the Times New Roman font...anywho...my leftovers over tonight are 2007 Abott's Table from columbia valley made by Owen Roe(19.49) and has mostly Sangiovese, Merlot, and Zinfandel...along with 6 other varietals...This is always a hit.  I go through about 100 cases of this yea...

  • Pinot Noir Wine

Pinot noir grape may be quite difficult to cultivate and vinify, but it produces the finest wine in the history of mankind. Originally from the region of Burgundy, France, pinot noir is now grown and cultivated in several places outside of scenic France such as Austria, Australia, Chile, Canada, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Moldova, Switzerland, and the United States. Specifically, Oregon vineyards has thus far become one of the most successful planting fields of pinot noir primarily because of their exceptional climate that so well matches the grape's nature.

Pinot noir wine, a light-colored red wine, is aromatic and flavorful, suggestive of black cherry, tomato, raspberry, strawberry, cinnamon, mint, and mushroom. It is velvety in texture and seductive in nature, and may typically go well with any food because of its versatility. And in fact, any meal becomes extra special with a bottle of pinoit noir wine and a romantic toast.

Welcome to the Virtual Wine Tasting Club. Every month in our online wine tasting series we will taste a different wine and post our tasting notes. In advance, if possible, please post the wine you will be trying that fits the tasting. The tasting will last one month so you can taste and post your notes in that time frame. Please ask questions about the wine we're tasting, post recommendations for future wine tastings and make this online wine tasting group a wonderful, interactive, informative wine discussion.
