2009 German Riesling Tasting August 5-7 2011

  The tasting club will be tasting 2009 vintage German Riesling wines from the 5th to the 7th. Some possible choices are; Dr. Loosen Dr. L Estate QbA, Dr. Loosen Blue Slate Estate Kabinett, J.J. Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Spatlese, Maximin Grunhauser Riesling QbA Trocken, St. Urbans-Hof Riesling & Leitz Rudesheimer Magdalenenkreuz Spatlese.

  2009 A.J. Adam Dhroner Hofberger Riesling Kabinett $24.99
  
  The A.J. Adam Dhroner Hofberger Riesling Kabinett pours out almost clear in color with a slight viscosity to it. Lovely floral nose with some tropical fruit and wet stone. On the sweet end for a kabinett riesling in the mouth but there is matching acidity to keep it in check. Flavors of pear, honey and mineral. Pretty clean in the mouth and certainly not cloying. An excellent riesling well worth finding.

  2009 A.J. Adam Dhroner Hofberger Riesling Kabinett $24.99 The A.J. Adam Dhroner Hofberger Riesling Kabinett pours out almost clear in color with a slight viscosity to it. Lovely floral nose with some tropical fruit and wet stone. On the sweet end for a kabinett riesling in the mouth but there is matching acidity to keep it in check. Flavors of pear, honey and mineral. Pretty clean in the mouth and certainly not cloying. An excellent riesling well worth finding.

  2009 Dr. Heidemanns-Bergweiler Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Kabinett $15.99
  
  Pale straw in color with good clarity. Tons of fruit on the nose - pear, apple, apricot. Slightly sweet in the mouth but the acidity is there too. Flavors of honey, pear with a little lemon-lime and some minerality. Very long finish where the acidity outlasts the sweetness. A lovely riesling at an excellent price.
