Nice bottle. Very California, very Stag's Leap. Cliff Lede recently purchaced this vineyard (can't recall from which previous producer) and has done a really nice job at making quality wines at non-astronomical (notice, I did not say affordable) prices. The color of the wine, from the moment it hits the glass, reveals it's character as a dark, rich, supple treat. The nose is a striking interplay of cassis, smoke, cedar, and violet. The wine seems to carress the palate with smooth tannin, cassis, dark plum and silky tannin and wood. It is rich, opulent, and worthy of it's orgin. Although I'm more of a French wine guy, I do enjoy Lede's wines. he makes a less expensive "Claret" which is nice as well. Perhaps Mr. Lede could abandon his profession as a land developer and pursue the more noble career of winemaking....?
