  Are these guys making Kit wines and selling them... I know Landon in McKinney, tx is also doing this.... Allot of his wines are finished with kits and he sells them for 40-50.00 a bottle! These guys make allot of money in the industry but make it hard for the people who are actually growing their own grapes here in Texas trying to produce something good. I myself have made several kit wine and never really liked the way they turned out. Curious of the quality and if they press their own grapes?
  Interesting Idea though.... Make your own wine....

  I don't know. they say they are buying their grapes from wholesalers. They have a lot of sweeter wines and are just okay.

  I know Landon makes Tempranillo wine, which is definitely not sweet, from local grapes.
  As to the other wineries I've visited in my travels, I can confirm they grow their own grapes (and have stories and the vineyards to prove it) and make wines from those grapes....

  This is a major problem... There are a few wineries who take advantage of the lax wine laws here in Texas. This kind of thing bothers me as well as the "For Sale in Texas Only" labels.
  If you look at Landon's wines the Tempranillo is his ONLY Texas wine after he got pushed by allot of people to make a Texas wine. I have personally seen kit wines in the back of his building. A NO NO in the wine business. Landon is a businessman not a winemaker. He hires GCC students to do all his work.
