The Cayuga Lake wine tour
I wrote this article for an interactive magazine, just prior to starting my blog (whywineblog.com). Still have not done the Seneca Lake Trail, but that will done this year.

Yesterday my wife and I took the wine tour along Cayuga Lake in the Fingerlakes region of New York. We have been living not far from that region for 35 years, but our appreciation for wine has always been for the European varieties. The tour did not change that appreciation in any way, but, we were pleasantly surprised by what we found.
We visited six different wineries and found some new favorites. Neither of us like sweet wines so we stuck with just tasting the dry whites and reds. We found some real nice whites and a few reds to bring home. The best of which were:
A dry riesling and cabernet sauvignon from the Buttonwood Grove Winery, another dry riesling, lemberger and a Pinot Gris from the Hosmer Winery and a real nice pinot grigio from the Gooswatch Winery. Also from Gooswatch we found a delicious cabernet sauvignon reserve .
Another pleasant note to add from our trip is the meal we enjoyed at the Knapp Winery restaurant. The restaurant is definitely five star and inexpensive.
It turned out to be a beautiful and memorable day. Next month we will do the Seneca Lake trail. Can't wait!!!!!
