Every wine lover, most of us anyway, has had a wine epiphany. A moment when we can pin point as the beginning of our obsession. Although far from being the best or most remarkable wine I'd tasted to this point, a fire was sparked within me when I shared a pizza and a 1982 Mouton Cadet Bordeaux, (drunk from a jam jar), with a good friend at college. In retrospect I like to believe there had been mix up in the labeling room at Chateau Mouton Rothschild and I was actually tasting the senior Bordeaux of that stellar vintage, but in fact, I think it was just the sentimental memory of that moment, the pizza, and the conversation with a dear friend. Yet I still remember a plush mouth feel, juicy cherry and berry flavors, and moderately fine tannins. I was hooked.
