Any thoughts about what a wet '08 holds in store for us thus far? Anyone heard anything from inside sources about difficulties or benefits of this year's weather with respect to the harvest/vintage? I know it is still a little early to be making firm statements, but I have yet to hear anyone from inside the business talk much about this year. Seems they are waiting and watching and, perhaps, holding their breath and crossing their fingers that fall doesn't set in early and force early harvest to save the grapes (at least the more fragile vinifera). We'll be out and about over the next week or so and we'll do our best to bring back some information about this. In the meantime, from you . . . .

tasted some just pressed and slightly fermented Malbec grapes @ Hidden Bench some weeks ago (a small treat from winemaker JM while we were visiting Meg and the winery) --- what a wonderful flavour profile! Seems as though the late season dry spells came at just the right time to allow for good berry maturation in the various HB vineyards, not so much the case at other neighbors (so we have heard), don't know/haven't heard much about elsewhere, but I imagine word will be leaking out shortly from various sources as to how things have gone with harvest and crush . . . .
