The drunkard asks, "Who are behind the king's wines?" The cook points to Piedmont. Piedmont answers, "I have them."

The gran aziende vinicola of barolo all hail from the poetic land of Piedmont in Italy. These wineries all boast of majestic hectares of healthy and luscious nebbiolo grapes, the fruit behind the king of the wines. The best barolo makers, according to barolo enthusiasts, include Marchesi di Barolo, Azelia, Anselma, Marchesi di Barolo, Bartolo Mascarello, Pio Cesare, and Paolo Scavino. Let's take a look at some of these vigneti.

Marchesi di Barolo pertains to itself as the capo di barolo vigneti in Piedmont. The three centuries old barolo producer is the first to produce dry vinified red wines. The ancestral casa di Anselma, meanwhile, holds one of the most gigantic wineries in the land and doubles as an educational tourist spot. In Azelia, on the other hand, boasts of one and a half hectares of swirling, crawling Nebbiolo, ripened to perfection to produce thousands of bottles of our favorite full-bodied barolo.
