• Hi Everyone! My name is Cara Hafferty and I am a new member of I live in Braintree, Massachusetts with my husband, John and two children and recently opened a wine store here with him and another couple. I would love to use this blog as an opportunity to share my random thoughts on wine and welcome any feedback from all of you. One can never stop learning about the vast subject of wine!

I became a wine lover because I married one. I was lucky enough to find someone who loved food like I do, who worked in the wine industry and introduced me to the wonderful world of wine - a match made in gastronomic heaven! Consequently, I became the co-owner of a somewhat modest but very diverse and ever-changing wine collection. I quickly grew accustomed to digging in to find a wine that would go well with whatever I was cooking that evening. Eventually I started buying wine as well; as my wine knowledge grew so did my purchasing confidence. I also started working in the industry. I dabbled in retail and, for five years, ran a wine tasting business that involved staffing wine related events for importers and suppliers.

I have had numerous opportunities to learn over the years through reading and tasting. I enjoy just about anything but have grown especially fond of European wines, both traditional and modern. Red and white Burgundies (the subject of my next blog) are among my favorites as well as many reds from Italy and Spain.

    What are your favorites?

    A Votre Sante,

    SlightlyPotty Cara,

Every collection starts with one bottle; so does education. I wish you well and look forward to your thoughts on Burgundies.

    best wishes,
