I Love wine.....I Love Food....I only wish I had the metabolism I had when I was 20 to burn off all the calories....
I have been in the Real Estate and Mortgage Banking business for the past 25 years. It was only a few years ago that my wife said she was convinced that I only worked as hard as I do to support my wine habit.
I have been writing reviews now for 5 years, and have been asked to assist in wine selection for Washington, DC galas, weddings and large functions. It is my dream to somehow make my avocation, my actual vocation.

My other love is high-end Audio. Tube amps, SACD music and a wonderful listening room. Sitting with a bottle of wine, listening to Diana Krall, and sharing with good friends is Nirvana...
I am originally from New York (Bronx then New City) and went to college in Niagara Falls (Niagara Univ.) and Olean (St. Bonaventure Univ.) I proudly keep my Irish passport which enables me to travel within the EU tasting wines without waiting at customs. Ahh the advantages of dual citizenship!
I have a beautiful wife (Nancy) and 2 beautiful girls (Sean 13, Brighid, 10). I live in the Washington, DC suburbs, and love to discover the places to eat and drink wherever I travel.
Feel free to drop me a note if you are visiting the DC area. I can make restaurant and Winebar recommendations, and maybe even let you know where you can find some free tastings. Go to my site to e-mail me. Read my reviews too! www.WineGent.com Cheers!

Cheers for the advice, I've got 1 bottle of each of these on the way: Justin Chardonnay 2000@£16.95 (all retail prices) EOS Petite Syrah 2004@£9.99 Justin Isosceles 1999@£44.95 Are these good years? Is the retail price right?
Thanks. Hope you enjoyed the "Dogtown". There's more Turley in my undisclosed location to be written about in the future. I lived in both Annandale and then Fairfax. I went to the Corcoran School of Art for a year then went to George Mason. I miss it up there terribly. My husband and I are actually flying up next month for a week. He is participating in the Nations Triathlon and then we're going to stay for the week. I'm giddy with excitement. We still have friends up there too and we're staying in the city so we can play tourist. Any good wine bars I should check out?
Winegent, I took a trip to Nappa earlier this month and it really wet my palate for learning more, tasting more and meeting wine lovers. I'm divorced after 21 years of marriage, knowing only "Boones Farm" until I met my guy friend, Kirby who taught me what I know about good wine. Since he is a pilot I have tried wine from South America that I love. However, Kansas is very backward and we can't get many wines. Could not even ship wines from Nappa unless they had a merchant who carried it. Can't even get "two buck chuck" in KS. thanks for responding. Queen
Hi there! Thanks for the ad. My aunt lives in Alexandria so I go to D.C every once in awhile to visit. One of my favorite spots is the Bohemian Caverns.
Hello :) Couple of my faveorites to start with are from paso robles. There is a vineyard called opolo. They have a fantastic mountain red zin. Also in the san luis obispo area Claiborne and churchill do a really nice dry riesling. And same area....tolosa does a really nice non oak char. Glad I met you, thanks :)
Thanks for the add. I see that we both have a love of Santa Barbara area wines/wineries. We lived in that area several years ago before the wineries started popping up. Darn it! Can't wait to read some great reviews.
