The Gold Label Shiraz from Wolf Blass Wines, sourced from low yielding vines in Barossa, Australia, pours out a deep red, almost purple in color and is quite opaque. Good fruit on the nose (blueberry, plum, blackberry and a little black currant) with some oakiness. In the mouth cherry and blackberry are the prominent fruit flavors and are slightly jammy but not in a fruit bomb way. A little spice and hints of cedar too. Nice structure. Subdued tannins. Almost a slight creaminess to the mouthfeel. The finish is medium in length. A well put together wine with some depth. Drinking well now but will be even better over the next 5-7 years. Retail is $24.99, bought on sale for $16.49. At the sale price this wine has a very good QPR.
