I decanted the Clos du Mont-Olivet Chateauneuf-du-Pape for a good 3 hours. The wine pours out an enticing deep garnet in color with nice clarity. On the nose there is a good deal of spice accompanied by cherry, cigar box and citrus rind. In the mouth there is a a lot of dark fruit (cherry, blackberry), some lingering pomegranate and rhubarb intertwined with warm spices. Very elegant and well balanced. On the full side of medium bodied with a very long finish. The best of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape wines I have tried so far but this will be much better in the years to come as it gains some age. I'd buy this again and again and lay it down for at least 5 years with 10+ years being ideal.
