The Boxer Shiraz from MollyDooker in McLaren Vale, South Australia pours out inky purple and is opaque except for the the rim. I decanted this wine for a good two hours and gave it a rigorous shake in the decanter to release the nitrogen. On the nose aromas of cherry, raspberry, plum and a little spice. Flavors of blackberry, black currant, plum come forward in the mouth. There is quite tart acidity in the wine with some heat from the high alcohol level (16% ABV). Dusty tannins. Medium to full bodied Australian fruit bomb. Very dry on the long finish. If you like well made, fruit forward wines with a good alcohol punch The Boxer Shiraz is for you.
