The Y Series Shiraz Viognier (94% Shiraz, 6% Viognier) from Yalumba Winery in Angaston, South Australia pours out deep ruby red with some lightning on the rim. Plum, sour cherry and raspberry on the nose. In the mouth the wine is quite acidic and would probably be best paired with food than drank alone. Flavors of sour cherry, a slight citrus undertone and a bit of licorice. Medium bodied. Decent length finish. A nice wine at a good price ($10.99 at Whole Foods). Decant the wine, go make dinner then enjoy both together.
