About Me:
I'm in the software development business..but who cares about that part...my hobbies are running, squash, golf, travel, reading...and well, of course, wine. i've had a real cellar--meaning insulated, temperature controlled, redwood racking real deal for about 8 years now and I'm just starting to reap the benefits of constantly buying young wines, laying them down and mostly taking them out when they're ready. The main thing is there's lots of wine to drink at any given time :-)

Here's my big question for you if you're reading this and saw the movie "Sideways"...So, the main character (Miles?) is famous for making that comment about "letting some girl sit with them but not drinking any effing Merlot" (as if he's really in a position to be choosy when it comes to women :-) ) and then it turns out his dream bottle he's been saving for a special occasion is a Cheval Blanc from way back, which depending on the year has a ton of merlot in it. Do you think this is a semi-subtle joke on the character perpetrated by the writer or director? Some kind of a dramatic irony joke on the guy who thinks he knows everything about wine? Or, is it an inconsistency...if the guy is such a Pinot fan, wouldn't his dream wine be some famous Burgundy? Say...Romanee Conti...or something of that ilk...regardless, I thought the movie was fun, but I've always wondered...maybe somebody out there knows the answer...
